How we work with teachers
We offer a wide range of programmes and resources specifically tailored to the requirements of teachers at all levels:
- Professional development sessions for teachers (In-Service Training — INSET — and for student teachers undertaking PGCE/ teacher training courses) on a range of issues which could include:
- Global Citizenship (see NEAD’s Developing Citizenship project)
- Multicultural & Race Awareness
- Distant Localities (in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America)
- Images and Stereotypes of Our World
- Fair Trade
- International Debt
- Multicultural Arts (see World Voices)
- and many others.
- Helping local teachers to organise major curriculum development initiatives and providing information, help and advice for preparing topics, modules and courses on Distant Localities and development issues, and for teachers who wish to strengthen the multicultural, anti-racist, ‘southern’ perspectives of their teaching.
- Support for teacher trainers and Local Education Authority (LEA) advisors locally, regionally and nationally.
- A Resources Centre that lends a wide range of teaching resources for classroom use and professional development.
- Schools’ Newsletters produced termly — one for secondary schools and one for primary schools.
