http://www.nead.org.uk/projects/ en simon@premierlinks.co.uk Copyright 2010 2010-02-07T17:48:14+00:00 http://www.nead.org.uk/projects/edev/edev http://www.nead.org.uk/projects/edev/edev#When:16:48:14Z A mini-project upgrading NEAD's digital provisions – providing global education and inspiration for the digital generation!   Year 1 saw upgrades to nead.org.uk; full re-coding (enabling viewing on modern devices: wide-screen to mobile), a private members’ space to disseminate resources and inspirational ideas, web 2.0 features and more openly available NEAD publications. NEAD also developed it’s wider web-presence, including fun and participatory tools such as an interactive supporters’ (Google) map.   Year 2 is about growing partnerships in order to produce a bespoke youth orientated micro-website, including a custom made games, linking Norfolk to the rest of the world via the 8 Key Concepts of the global dimension in education. The key concepts of the global dimension are: Global Citizenship Social Justice Values & Perceptions Sustainable Development Interdependence Conflict Resolution Human Rights Diversity   The games highlight local people and projects whose work directly effects the developing world as well as globally minded community cohesion within our region. We hope to feature the work of grassroot and regional branches of (inter)national NGOs as well as academics, individuals and schools in the region who are directly and effectively 'making a difference' as global citizens. We will also call for ACTIONS to be taken to effect policy-making agendas, encourage pupils' political and social engagement, involvement with/ understanding about new and marginal communities, and to demonstrate understanding our interconnectedness and the importance of values and perceptions.   Year 3 will link the work done so far into the region’s VLE (virtual learning environment): giving access to global education relevant to Norfolk directly within Norfolk classrooms and to all ages from young people upwards.  NEAD will then work with schools, youth groups and other interested organisations and groups empowering them to use the micro-site, take actions and influence shaping the micro-site's future.      Project funded by: DFID, with support from The John Jarrold Trust.   Supported by: Norfolk Children's Services, Real Projects, NUCA , The British Geographical Association and Global Thinking.   Advice on the global games came from: Human Rights – The Red Cross (Norwich refugees branch) & Gervelie Kouloungou, Catherine Stigwood, Jonathan Melnyk Mendes, Bridge+, Stuart Bloch (UNICEF Children's Rights facilitator), Norwich Writers Centre Global Citizenship – NEAD's Windmill Project Coordinator, Norfolk Outdoor Learning team, Catherine Stigwood Diversity – Norfolk Constabulary/ Safer Schools Partnership, NNREC, Norwich MIND Sustainable Devlopment – Pablo Dalby (UEA DEV Masters student and DEV project evaluator)   Aditional advice on games: Dean Leeks (University Campus Suffolk / Daterleek Games) E-DEV, 2010-03-17T16:48:14+00:00
