Description of the sessions

Tony Ogogo offers up to 4 sessions within the school day (depending on subject areas). A day's residency usually starts with an Introductory Assembly for the whole school or Year Group (optional).

He has a cross-curricular approach to his work with emphasis on 'low-tech' usage; workshops are delivered on a flexible basis involving hands-on practical activities for pupils and the staff.

Workshop activities may include:

  • African mask-making techniques;
  • Traditional coiling;
  • Coil-for-coil;
  • Benin;
  • Sculptural techniques;
  • Jewellery design/making techniques;
  • Storytelling – West African tales, legends and myths;
  • Rhythm, music and dance movements;
  • African Tie & Dye techniques.
