Volunteer

Please note that we are currently unable to take on many new volunteers - see below.

NEAD volunteers are diverse - in age, background, culture, skills and interests. We currently benefit from the skills, experience, enthusiasm, expertise and commitment of a pool of approximately 20 key volunteers. Some contribute regularly and often, some occasionally, and others on specific projects or events. Our Volunteer Handbook is packed with useful information for NEAD volunteers.

If you can contribute to E-Dev - digital teaching resources project - then project manager Alaine would be very happy to hear from you. We are hoping to hold a focus group soon, and are always interested in new partners to contribute ideas, illustrations, groups of children to use or trial the digital games with, and (of course) funding.

You may be interested in getting involved with our We Are Norfolk: East project, especially if you live in that region. The project is in it's 3rd and final year, focusing on developing opportunities and activities to explore the current issue of large numbers of new community members in the area, and the associated tensions this can create. We look at local cultural diversity and the global millennium development goals (MDGs), at an age-appropriate level. Volunteers can help with office work and support for events / meetings, to designing activities for children.

Unfortunately we can only handle taking on key volunteers at our Norwich base at the moment, that's volunteers with specific skills which we need - qualified teachers, experienced workshop facilitators, marketing professionals, fundraisers etc. with development knowledge. We are also looking into funding for internships - a minimum of two or three days/week for at least a term, preferably 2 terms. We have yet to get this scheme running (it takes lots of planning and time!) but if you feel you may fit our criteria, please do get in contact with us.
